Peggy@PeggyHattendorf.com - A little about me personally and professionally:

Most of my life I have resided in California and met my husband while we were attending Loyola Marymount University. We continued to live in Los Angeles raising a family in Bel Air and Palm Desert. Once our children were grown, my husband Mark and I had the opportunity to move to the East Coast and lived in New York City for a number of years. As life progressed, it took us back to California this time to the San Francisco Bay area where we lived in Mill Valley as well as Atherton in the Silicon Valley. At that juncture, we had the good fortune to discover Austin Texas where we moved and lived for almost seven years. California called again and we currently divide our time between San Diego and Los Angeles.

Writing is my third career although it was a natural evolution of my writing accomplishments in earlier professions. My career started as an administrator in the social services field while attending evening classes at Pepperdine University to get my Master's degree in Human Services. I composed and created technical and operational handbooks for staff and volunteers in a number of name-worthy successful non-profit agencies before applying my writing skills to the travel and leisure industry.

My venture in the travel industry spanned more than twenty years, and encompassed owning a number of travel management companies. This led to the co-founding of a marketing consortium for small full service and cruise travel agencies as well as independent contractors. Sales quickly grew to over $180 million annually and represented global travel products and contracts that I negotiated with worldwide travel vendors. Our nationwide network consisted of more than 5000 serious sellers of travel.

It was fascinating to write daily travel advisories, supplier updates as well as important travel news that impacted the travel agent community. My biweekly column called Peggy's own Perspectives (POP) entailed general travel information, my personal travel choices and news on the industry.

While my past professions have cultivated my interest in technical and travel writings, I have expanded my focus into fiction having recently completed my debut novel titled Son of My Father - A Family Dynasty.
